Weather

This week my word of the week is weather! Inspired after walking behind two old ladies on my way home from the shops this morning.
We Brits just love talking about the weather don’t we! Our national fail safe conversation, nothing to talk about? Talk about the weather.

“How are you today? Lovely day today isn’t it”

“So much for our summer, 2 weeks of sun is that all we get?”

It goes on really doesn’t it, we moan if it’s too hot, we moan when it’s too cold. It’s too dry, it’s too wet. You just can’t win really! The worst is paying thousands of pounds to go away somewhere nice and warm to escape the dull drab dreary Britain only to find out it’s hotter at home than it is where you gone on holiday too, seriously what the heck is that all about! I know I’m not the only one that’s happened too  am I right……

There’s also an irony that wellies, and old lady rain poncho’s are a must have for festival season during the summer months too, going to Glastonbury? Get yourself some new festival wellies (or a canoe judging from the past few years)

I must admit I always thought it was an old people thing but apparently not, although I do think the the older generation still have the monopoly on moaning about the weather, but no one is immune it’s like we just can’t help it, no matter how hard we try it always comes out, and I man always just comes spilling out.

But the heat is the worst, really it’s because we’re just not used to it we get hot and cranky and 2 days into our ‘mini heatwave’, coz lets face it it never really lasts that long does it, and everyone is like “oooh it’s just too hot don’t you think! We need a good thunderstorm clear the air” ” it’s so clammy, It’s just tooo hot!’ Sound familiar?

Personally I would rather be cold because you can always warm up, but I don’t mind the heat really, I don’t like to sit in it I get bored and hot and narky and a little bit stressed but I’m good if I’m busy but not in my work uniform grrrr I just hate to put that on when the weather is so nice it’s not really summer friendly but that is the only time you will really hear me moaning about being hot.

And don’t even get me started on the rain……….

Happy Summer Folks!

Haha my mum is the same, she loves the sun the hotter the better as far as she is concerned!

I'm the opposite – I moan about the bad weather all the time because I need it to be hot. I was definitely born in the wrong country!

Being so far north we don't generally have to worry about it being to warm. Do like to moan that everyone else gets the sun though 🙂

It's funny isn't it how we British are so obsessed with the weather! It's been super weather all week, blistering hot and then typical… peeing down all weekend!

I like the rain as long as I don't have to go out in it! And I hate working when it's really warm too nice to be cooped up inside x

Chatting about the weather is such a British thing, isn't it? We all do it! I love the sun and never complain I'm too hot! I don;t mind the rain for the garden, but not for long – give me the sun back again! Thanks for sharing with #WotW x
