The Year 5 Back To School Post

This year I tried to be more organised with Olivia’s school uniform, but as usual, all and I mean all the stuff I liked was already sold out in Olivia’s size. This year we are in size 11-12. And yes, I have done the age old mum thing of buying in the size above, you know to get my monies worth! Olivia does wear this size anyway but the uniform seems to have come up a bit bigger this year so fingers crossed it’ll last a while!

I opted for Asda again for the T-shirts and cardy’s but, to be honest, I’m not a fan of Asda’s T-shirts I find they go a bit stiff after a few washes but I couldn’t get to Sainsbury’s as I do prefer theirs. Saying that, for £3.50 you shouldn’t really moan, should you! I got 3 twin packs so she has one for each day and one for her PE bag. I give it a week before I can’t find any! I got 3 cardy’s as we still have one or two from last year that still fit. I chose two the same and bought an extra one when I was out shopping last week. Again in size 11-12 they have a much better fit and I like the elasticated cuffs on the wrist and the cute bow detail on the collar. They also have little pockets and were only £7 each!

I got the dresses from Littlewoods this year. I wanted dresses with no pleats as I absolutely hate ironing pleats and I find them a bit restricting too especially when growth spurt hits. So I got a smock style dress with plenty of room for Olivia to grow and they are super comfy too when she tried it on she didn’t want to take it off. I have never bought uniform from them before but at £13.50 for two they were really reasonable and the quality feels really good too.

As usual Olivia’s dad bought the shoes SIZE 4 PEOPLE SIZE 4!!!!!! (I’m only a 5!) and this year made the decision to buy a pair from the Shoemarket for £11. Last year we spent nearly £100 on shoes and she wasn’t happy with any of them at all! So hopefully these will last longer than a week unlike her £40 one’s last year from Brantano.

Knee high grey socks I got from work (Home Bargains) for 69p a pair and have a bow at the top and are a random size 4-6?!?! Fit perfect though and sit just on the top of the knee.

So today was the day. First day back. All organised and ready. We recycled last year’s school bag and PE bags as there was nothing wrong with them and a shiny new My Little Pony lunch box. Hair was done new clips and hairband in too. We made it halfway there then the sickness bug that has been doing the rounds through the family finally made it to Olivia and home we came!

  1. They are great pieces of clothing, I found myself looking at pinafore dresses in ASDA the other day, aren't they gorgeous? This time next year Leah shall be putting on her first pinefore ready for big school! Last year I bought t-shirt and jumpers a size too big for Lewis to grow into and they still fit him perfectly (granted last September they drowned him! haha). Hope Olivia is enjoying being back at school. Thank you for sharing #TT_Thursday

  2. ASDA seems so cost effective! But I suppose sometimes you get what you pay for. I think when the time comes for me to head to school I'm going to have to get my mummy to shop around at a couple of stores x #TT_Thursday
