The Secret Formula To The Perfect Kids Holiday

If you asked your kids what their favourite holiday would be what would they say? Would they choose somewhere far flung, would they want to go closer to home or are they not particularly bothered? Olivia would choose to go to Brazil apparently! She doesn’t dream small this kid trust me!

Would you be surprised to hear that 73% of 2000 children surveyed by BlackpoolsBack said that they would rather go on a holiday that didn’t include flying? I was. With over 55% saying travel time should be kept at a maximum of 4 hours from front door to destination it kinda makes you think when planning your next holiday abroad doesn’t it!

But……. what makes a holiday? Are your perfect holiday ingredients the same as your children’s or are you after different things from your holiday?

The results showed the following as the 4 most important elements for children when holidaying and surprisingly or not depending on how in touch with your inner child you are, they ranked with 59% wanting a real sandy beach, 50% wanting a seaside location, a water park for 48% and a theme park for 46%  with no flying involved! Planes are not looking so popular with the kiddo’s are they! I have to say I do agree with them too.

The thing is, with kids preferring to not fly and holiday in the UK what are their thoughts on the weather? Only 5%, that’s 1 in 20 folks, say sunny weather is important for a good family holiday. It’s not all about the weather is it, it’s what you do that really matters. This also means that 6 out of 10 children would prefer to go somewhere that is English speaking too.

So when was the last time you holidayed in this country? I have done for the past few years and have visited some lovely parts of the country.

Blackpool is an iconic North West seaside resort with over 13 million visits last year and with the results of the above survey it’s not hard to see why people are flocking to Blackpool for family orientated holidays. With the current investment and regeneration going on Blackpool has everything that children want on their family holiday.

  • Real sandy beaches
  • Swimming pools
  • Attractions
  • Travelling time
  • Location
  • Food
  • Weather (it wasn’t important don’t forget!)
  • Language
  • Distance to the beach
  • Method of travel
Blackpool is suddenly starting to look like a really good idea for future family holidays. Olivia and I had a lot of fun when we visited in April despite the rain.
BlackpoolsBack commissioned OnePoll to survey 2,000 UK children aged 6 – 17 in June 2014
