Olivia's Outfits

Girls Day Out: What Olivia Wore

On Saturday, I decided it was time Olivia, and I had a girls day out. It was long overdue, and she needed a bit of pampering (read: Lil spoiling), so under the guise of  ‘stationary’ shopping, we decided to indulge in some retail therapy, and it just so happened that where we decided to partake in this retail therapy, there was a cinema, hmmm……. why not just take in a cheeky Lil film too I thought. Good thinking, mum thought Olivia too. I think we should see Inside Out and see if we did.

To mark this occasion (yes, I know a wee bit dramatic!), we went all out. We painted our nails, we slapped some makeup on, done our hair all pretty and out came Olivia’s new favourite dress and ‘fancy nancy’ shoes! Oh yes, push the boat out. We did indeed for this.

It turns out I wasn’t really fussed about the film, but Olivia loved it and even got a bit misty-eyed at the end. I got a bit misty-eyed when I saw exactly how much money we ended up spending! Still reeling from it now, but we had such a fun day, so it was worth it in the end.

The dress is actually one of my niece’s and is from last year. It is age 13-14 from George at Asda. It is fully lined with a petticoat underneath and is very floaty and girly and so very Olivia! Not sure my niece will ever see this again………. The denim jacket is age 11-12, and I got it from a Barnado’s charity shop last year, and it still fits well as you would expect from the F&F range at Tesco. And finally the shoes, it’s all about these shoes this summer.

My sister originally bought them for her daughter, yep, that same niece, in size 3, but they were too tight, so she gave them to Olivia when we went on holiday last month. They were a big hit due to the kiddy friendly wedge heel on them, very grown-up and a much more suitable choice than my 6-inch wedges she has taken to wearing around the house. Not sure how much they were, but they are from the Very catalogue. It’s safe to say she is making the most of the last of the sun in anticipation of digging out her jeans and woolly jumpers! p.s. Please excuse the creases in the jacket. She did not leave home like that but decided to make a good cushion whilst watching the film!

What is your perfect outfit for a girly day out? Or do you have a daughter who loves wearing dresses as much as mine? If so, let me know your favourite place to buy them for some new ideas 🙂

A lovely dress and those shoes are gorgeous, my eldest and youngest daughters both love wearing dresses, but the middle one wouldn't be caught in one at all. I love Matalan for the 6 year olds dresses and the eldest usually browses Goddiva.

Aaah she looks super cute and that dress is to die for. There is nothing like a 'surprise' day out to bring a smile to a kids face.
