So last week was kind of a disaster on the whole healthy eating front. I lasted a few days thanks to bad planning and having no idea what I was eating from one meal to the next and I won’t even go into the fact that I missed meals due to 7am work starts going till 3pm before actually eating! Binge alert anyone!
So this week I decided that I just had to reintroduce exercise to help motivate me that little bit more. I have a leisure pass for my local council run gyms and swimming pools but as Olivia is off school I tend not to use it as she has to stay out enough without me palming her off to go to the gym, swimming together (free in school holidays for children) yes but anything else not really.
What could I do that would get me some exercise and involve Olivia too?
I’m not a runner, I am useless on the treadmill at the gym, tending to use the cross trainer but why not. It’s free, if it’s not raining there isn’t really a good enough excuse not too. Olivia has a scooter she can join me on that and as I know I won’t be running that fast it will get us both some fresh air and exercise! Perfect plan.
Today was D-Dy or R-Day I should say. We woke up at 9am and by 20 past we were headed over the road to our local park. Deciding to run the park part of our journey to school first then go where the wind takes us. Bit of a shaky start, thanks to Olivia, we ended up out for over half an hour, running, walking, jogging, walking and so on. I am a fan of HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) so the fact that I can’t run fast or far was irrelevant. Run for a bit, slow down to walk, then pick up the pace again for a minimum of 20 minutes. Big fat tick in that box!
It was the first time I have ever actually ran, ever except for the bus, and whilst I am now exhausted with a late shift at work to follow (oh god!) I am glad I have done it and hopefully will be able to do it again at least another 3 times this week maybe 4 with or without my little side kick.
So here’s to running and keeping fit, at least if I can’t stay away from the bad stuff I will be burning some of those naughty calories off!
Stay tuned for more exercising the frazzled way 🙂
