Box Sets, Popcorn and Wine, 3 of my favourite things. I love catching up with my box set’s whilst Olivia is at school and whilst popcorn is a suitable companion for my viewing pleasure, wine at 11am may get me a bit of a reputation at the school gates at 3:30. So my desire to not be school gate gossip has confined the wine drinking until a socially acceptable hour of an evening, usually at the weekend as I am a bit of a lightweight!
The thing is though, I have never actually had popcorn and wine at the same time as a snack and drink not popcorn soaked wine. Is that a thing? If not should it be a thing, forget sweet or salty, the decision is red or white popcorn! Or maybe not on second thoughts but having a bag of popcorn alongside a nice chilled glass of Chardonnay sounds right up my street. Kind of like the grown up version of my infamous Carling and Quavers nights with my best friend back when we lived together at the tender age of 21. The good old days, sigh.
With all the amazing box set’s to watch these days, I’ve just got into Blindspot along with my ongoing obsession of The Flash and Supergirl and a bit of Criminal Minds too, it goes without saying that staying in is the new going out. Well for me anyway. So a night in in front of the TV obviously needs drinks and snacks, especially if it’s a girls night in.
The people over at SkinnyPop Popcorn have come up with this handy infographic to help to choose how to pair your wine and SkinnyPop Popcorn ready for a night in, in front of the screen for a box set bingefest. At a mere 39 calories per cup it makes it the perfect snack for anyone! So whether you are a red, rose or white wine, like me, kind of person there is a flavour for just about every bottle.
So it seems that as a Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc drinker I should opt for Original and Sea Salt and Black Pepper respectively. I like that, I tend to go for these flavours in crisps yet I have never tried it out on popcorn! What pairing would you go for? Is it Pinot Noir with Dusted Dark Chocolate or Pinot Grigio with Jalepeño? I really want to try the Jalepeño myself! It looks like SkinnyPop Popcorn and Wine could be my new favourite thing.
