Blog Linkys: Worth the effort?

Blog Linkys: Worth The Effort?

http://www.goingonanadventure.co.uk/

The rules are usually simple, you copy and paste the badge on your chosen post to take people back to the hosting blog, read, comment and share on others in the linky as it is all about sharing the love and discovering new blogs to read.

As you have all probably noticed, a lot of my posts these days are part of some blog linky or other.

There are so many fabulous linkys going around right now and now I have figured out how to do it I am linking up with gusto.

Linky here, linky there, one for reviews, one for books, one for whatever you want, one for new blogs, one for fun posts the options are endless, but are they worth it?

My blog is only about 6 weeks old so still a very new blog. Linkys are a fabulous way of linking your posts and therefore blog to a successful established blog and increasing your readership. Away to reach people that otherwise you may not of or not as quickly.

But there is a problem with linking up to so many linkys. Well personally for me it got me thinking.
If you take part in so many different ones, do you end up writing solely for the purpose of linking up? Especially if it a themed link up? They are brilliant if you already write about the chosen subject or if it is a linky for a post of your choosing, there are many of these around, but for themed links you have to be careful I feel. To not end up writing a post that maybe you wouldn’t normally to to be able to link up.

Can you join too many linkys? Is it annoying for your non blogging readers to see all these posts linked here there and everywhere? It’s hard to tell as obviously they bring over other bloggers mainly.
I do however find that sometimes some just aren’t worth it for me, maybe I don’t write the right things? Maybe people on that particular linky don’t like my blog (no biggie we’re all different) or maybe the linky has so many people on it comments go only to their blogging friends? I don’t know but in the end it is all good for you getting your blog out there and good for the hosts, who do such a great job giving us the chance to hop on board.

For me for now I will continue linking up to a few of my favourites every week would love you to pop over and join us on a few, as you never know you might find your new favourite read!

Spread the love

  1. I have only been joining 2 linkys at the weekend. I do see a slight rise in traffic, but sometimes only get one or two comments.
I am looking for one during the week where I can post about anything.
I have commented on yours a couple of times 🙂

  2. I am choosing my linkys carefully these days for that reason but I have found a new one for my poems tomorrow. I actually like going around reading others and commenting would be nice if everyone was the same xx

  3. I think linkys are a great idea! But only when the participants follow the rules lol! I remember commenting on one of yours a while back, the linky had like 70 participants but you only had 2 or 3 comments. That's when they're a waste of time! xx
