Locked Out Again!

I am terrible for locking myself out of my house. Really bad. My front door still has a good old Yale lock. We are yet to be upgraded to nice UPVC door. So, it’s an old style wooden door with a Yale lock for me. For someone as forgetful as I am, this is and has been a recipe for disaster. Before I know it I always end up locked out again.

Let’s set the scene shall we……………….

Tracey is Locked Out Again……

It’s 9.30 am. Tracey is enjoying a leisurely cup of coffee before work at 1 pm. She opens her laptop to check her emails and potter around on the blog. She continues like this and is doing a great job of pretending to be busy whilst not actually doing much of anything at all.

Before she knows it over 2 hours have passed and she is still sat there next to half a cup of cold coffee and the remnants of what once was a packet of bourbon creams. She is not, however, ready for work.

Tracey flies around her small but homely palace (totally not) kicking the debris from breakfast out of the way and cursing the fact that yet again she forgot to make sure to eat dinner before leaving for work. After locating her worktop and shoes (she is already in her comfy work joggers) she shows her face the makeup brush and hopes for the best. It looks like she’s rocking the tired worn out look again today. Her hair is lobbed up in a mini, messy, rough looking bun thing and spritzed with hairspray.

With this she is out the door, grabbing her coat and bag on the way. What Tracey forgot was that she left her keys in her jacket this morning after wearing it to walk Olivia to school. Oh, Tracey, your head will never save your feet will it!

Having Replacement Keys.

I wish I could say these things only happens on rare occasions but they really don’t. My mum and my sisters all have spare keys for me. But then I lost my mums key. I then had to borrow one of my sisters. The key is currently in my house somewhere, location yet to be determined.

It’s safe to say I am going to need to buy some replacement keys pretty sharpish before I am left locked out again with all my spare, and my own keys locked inside. Did you know you can get them done online? I had no idea, definitely worth considering for me. You can bet that when I do it again the weather will be horrendous and not one of my sisters, or my mum will be home. That’s just my luck that is!

Dozy to the very end, I sometimes wonder how I manage to make it through the day in one piece I tell ya! Honestly, some days Olivia looks at me with a mix of despair and pity in her eyes!

Trying to Not Get Locked Out Again!

I have actually started to (well 90 ish % of the time) keep my foot in the doorway whilst I check my bags or pockets for everything I need. I check and then check again, just in case. But there is always that one time where I am literally so frazzled the thought doesn’t even enter my head. And before I know it the lock has clicked and the door has closed. The keys contained inside. Sigh.

Those UPVC doors you have to physically lock as you leave could possibly be the only thing that saves my bacon. That or an alarm that goes off as I approach the door to prompt me to check for keys!

What do you think? Would that help me or am I doomed to be forgetful forever?

Lol oh dear, I think I would be the same as you if I had that sort of lock. I’m a person that has to go back at least twice after leaving the house to actually make sure that I’ve locked the door!
