Finding a Spring Jacket with Octer
It’s that time of year again. Time to come out of hibernation and find some outfits more suited to spring. In the winter I tend to hide away in big oversized jumpers and coats. I don’t leave the house without a coat so no one can see anything apart from my leggings! And so starts my search for finding a spring jacket.
It’s officially spring. A time for sun, fresh starts, and most importantly lighter evenings. This also means my wardrobe needs freshening up somewhat. In years gone by I have gotten myself stuck in rut clothes wise. Opting for the uber comfortable, and casual long blouse and leggings combo. I think I have about 5 blouses all the same style just different colours now. Depending on the weather I wear them with either a pair of pumps or boots. Pretty simple and basic really.
But one thing I do struggle with is coats and jackets. Being plus size and quite big up top can make finding the right jacket kind of awkward. Sure there are great plus size ranges out there but my body doesn’t seem to fit the standard size mould.
For example: For my chest and my waist I need a size 20. However, I am petite at 5″ 2 inches. Most coats in my size range tend to have really long arms and are too baggy around the arms/shoulders. The result is me looking like a little girl wearing her mum’s clothes! Not a great look.
As a result, my coat of choice tends to be cardigans, and thin, loose fitting blazers. You know the ones, they give off a slouchy, super casual look. And with no need to zip or button anything up, I tend to end up freezing as I suffer for my odd body shape sins.
That being said this year I am determined to find a nice jacket that works for me. Especially with some upcoming trips to London. I don’t know about you but I always find that if I feel comfortable in my clothes, I feel more confident. So a good jacket to cover me for spring this year is a must!
But, I hate shopping around and looking and trying on clothes that just don’t feel right. It’s absolutely soul destroying, isn’t it! I also get bored opening up different websites and trawling the sites in my hunt for the seemingly elusive jacket of my dreams. Too much? Yeah, I know dramatic much.
